Storing your bullion is straightforward: you hold your own account with the IDS depository, and Standard Bullion helps you get metal into the vault. You keep full ownership the whole way through.

Standard Bullion does not take custody of stored metal — your storage relationship is directly with International Depository Services (IDS).

1

Open your IDS account

You open an account directly with IDS and choose the facility that fits — Delaware, Texas, or Canada. Already have an IDS account? Use it. Standard Bullion isn't part of your storage account.

2

Get metal into the vault

Two ways in: buy from Standard Bullion and we'll ship your order directly to your IDS vault, or ship in metal you already own with fully-insured, trackable transit. IDS weighs, authenticates, and logs every item on arrival.

3

Choose segregated or pooled

With IDS you can hold metal segregated (your exact serial-numbered bars, set aside in your name) or pooled (allocated ounces at a lower annual rate). Compare the options →

4

Monitor, sell, or take delivery

Track your holdings anytime through the IDS client portal, backed by daily and monthly independent audits. When you're ready to sell, ship your metal back to Standard Bullion for a live buy-back quote — or request fully-insured delivery from IDS to your door.

What you can store

IDS vaults investment-grade gold, silver, platinum, and palladium — government-minted coins and LBMA/COMEX-approved bars and rounds. Retirement metal can be held in an IRA-eligible IDS account. Learn about a Precious Metals IRA →
